Chloe is 10 weeks pregnant and attends her GP surgery with severe nausea and vomiting. This is her third pregnancy; she has suffered with morning sickness during the first and second trimester of her other two. Chloe explains that her symptoms started three weeks ago, and over the last two days she has vomited several times and is finding it difficult to eat three full meals. Fluid intake has been maintained and Chloe feels she is passing good amounts of urine, though it is concentrated.
Systems examination and observations are unremarkable and urine dip is negative for ketones.
