Cara is a 3 year old girl who presents with her father after suffering a sore throat and feeling unwell for the past two days. On examination, there is a temperature of 38.2 Celsius along with her throat being red and both tonsils are inflamed. There is a white exudate seen on the tonsils. She has swollen but non-tender left submandibular lymph nodes. You observe a blanching erythematous rash on her trunk which feels rough and has not been observed until now by Cara’s father.
