A 19 year old female presents to Accident and Emergency with a 2 day history of abdominal pain located in the right iliac fossa. It is associated with nausea but no vomiting. She denies any urinary symptoms or any fevers. She has not had any diarrhoea symptoms and she denies any PV bleeding.
On examination, her abdomen is tender on palpation of the right iliac fossa with some guarding. Her temperature is 37.2°C , pulse is 112 bpm and blood pressure is 101/59 mmHg.
