Mr Trank is a 55 year old male who has been having dizzy spells for approximately two weeks. He denies any hearing loss, tinnitus or problems with balance/co-ordination. Apart from a mild upper respiratory tract infection a month ago, he is normally fit and well and has no regular medication.
Examination reveals fine horizonal nystagmus but otoscopy examination and systems examination is otherwise unremarkable. A clinical diagnosis of Vestibular Neuronitis is made and he enquires what treatment will help his symptoms.
