You are an FY2 Doctor on a Stroke ward and are the first to attend the crash call for an elderly frail lady, who has become unresponsive on the ward. You cannot feel a pulse or see any signs of breathing.

You are aware that the medical team had a long discussion and signed a Do Not Attempt Resuscitation (DNAR form), concluding CPR would not be in her best interests. You were present on the ward round a few days ago, when the patient herself agreed she would not want CPR.

Her husband has been visiting and now tearfully begs you to carry out CPR, saying his wife has recovered well from her stroke and thinks she would have changed her mind.
