Matthew is 32 years old and presents to the GP with a two day history of a red left eye and a gritty sensation. There is no photophobia or painful vision. Past medical history is unremarkable.

On examination, visual acuity is normal but sectoral redness of the left eye is seen. Upon application of Phenylephrine 2.5% the vessels blanch.
