Gemma is a 24 year old female who you have seen a few times over the last nine months with difficult to control Asthma. When you first met, she was using her Salbutamol inhaler every other day and waking most nights with a cough. You reviewed her medication, inhaler technique and lifestyle factors and felt all could be adjusted. Following this, Gemma reports a significant improvement in her Asthma control, she is using her Salbutamol once a week and not being woken at night. Gemma is currently taking high dose inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) twice daily and Salbutamol inhaler when required. On examination today, Gemma’s chest is clear and her peak flow is 500 (best is 520).
